Should I Settle My Worker’s Compensation Claim?

Whether or not you should settle on your Workers Compensation claim depends on whether or not you believe you are going to need subsequent care in the future. If your injury has healed, there’s no reason not to settle your claim unless the insurance company is being unreasonable in your disability benefits that it’s agreeing to provide you. If, however, your injury may cause you to need to return to a doctor in the future, you should arbitrate your claim in front of the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission. In that matter, your ability to reopen your claim and request coverage of future medical care is preserved.
