Who is the Best Criminal Defense Lawyer and DUI Attorney to Hire in Springfield, Illinois?

By Dan Noll on December 27th, 2013 in Criminal Defense, General

Hiring a Criminal Defense Lawyer is an extremely important decision that can have huge ramifications on the rest of your life. Whether it is for a state or Federal Case, DUI Charge or a simple Traffic Ticket, our lawyers believe that there are four criteria you should look at when hiring a lawyer. In addition, we have provided a list of questions to ask a lawyer before hiring them.

Experience

Our lawyers are experienced and knowledgeable criminal defense lawyers. We have represented clients accused of crimes in Central Illinois for over 40 years. When hiring a lawyer for your criminal case, you need to have confidence that this is not the first time that they have ever represented a person with your charges. In addition, you want to make sure that they are a dedicated criminal defense law firm.

At the Noll Law Office, 90% of our practice is dedicated to criminal defense. In both state and federal courts, Daniel Noll has developed a reputation throughout Central Illinois for aggressive, professional advocacy with a focus on client communication.

We have represent clients charged with:

  • Drug Crimes
  • DUI Defense
  • Federal Crimes
  • Sex Crimes
  • Theft Crimes
  • Traffic
  • Violent Crimes
  • Weapons Charges

Comfort

This may seem like an odd criteria to look for when searching for a lawyer. However, it is important that you are comfortable with your lawyer. Why? You need to have a good relationship with your lawyer so you can communicate openly and honestly with each other. If you do not like your lawyer, a barrier can be created which can detrimentally effect your case and your future.

When speaking with any lawyer, make sure that you get along with them. By no means are we suggesting that you need to be friends with the person or go have a beer with your lawyer after court. What we are saying is that you need to be comfortable with their experience, attitude, communication and overall demeanor.

Level of Success

This criteria will inform you about their level of success. Things to notice include: their office, staff and equipment. First of all, do they have an office? What condition is it in? Do they have support staff?

If the lawyer doesn’t have the office or it is run-down or in disrepair, what does this say about their legal practice? Are things going well? If they cannot run a successful business, do you want them to handle your case?

Do they have secretaries or paralegals? How do they answer the phone? Were they polite? Are you able to directly contact the lawyer?

The Noll Law Office is located in the Lincoln Depot. Our office is directly across the street from the Sangamon County Courthouse and the Sangamon County Jail. We bought this historical building and rehabilitated it into our office. The renovations we did at our office have been the subject of newspaper articles in both the State Journal Register and the Illinois Times. We are proud to have saved a piece of Springfield history. Moreover, we are happy to give any client or potential client a tour of the building and museum upon request.

Fees

Lawyers charge different rates depending upon the complexity of the case, their level of experience and abilities. Our Criminal Defense Lawyers will be happy to discuss the cost of representing you at a Free Initial Consultation. That said, it is important to hire a lawyer who is in your price range. You also want to make sure that the fees are reasonable. For example, you do not want to pay $5,000 to a lawyer for a speeding ticket.

When a lawyer quotes you a fee, ask them how they came to that number. What does that fee include? Is it an hourly rate or a flat fee? Is there a trial fee?

If you are looking for a lawyer to represent you on a criminal charge in Central Illinois, contact the Criminal Defense Lawyers at the Noll Law Office today by phone at (217) 414-8889.
